Last Thursday night, although my gig at Red Bennies got cancelled I ended up playing at Druids cafe! Druids is a little cafe on Swanston Street opposite RMIT. It is tiny and there was only really people from uni in the cafe but the atmosphere was sweet! It was really late notice but Trevor, one of the teachers was able to get me a left handed guitar. He went to Cranbourne music to buy one, then returned it the next morning! I was so grateful. I played three songs, two covers and an original.
The weekly night at Druids is ran by the students in the performance class so I was lucky enough to get another chance to play there next week on the 11th of October! I will be doing this show solo as it is only a twenty or so minute set. I will probably perform my original as well as some new covers I am thinking or doing!
In other news, in December I will be participating in the Melbourne Fresh Industry Showcase’s at Revolver Upstairs! One of the bookers there posted on the wall of my Facebook page and gave me a call. I will be writing a few more originals for that gig when uni finishes so I will try to keep you updated!
I will leave you with something I have been listening to heaps lately and am thinking of covering!
Unfortunately due to booking troubles my gig at Red Bennies tomorrow night with Bj has been cancelled ;(
I will be sure to keep you guys up to date on other gigs though!
In the mean time make sure you give our pages a like on Facebook!
Got much on for Thursday night? Feel like seeing a bit of live music?
Come down to Red Bennies! Bj and I have another gig there at around 8pm! Should be sweet night!
I have recently been thinking of what I can do for my major assignment in Audio Technology. This assignment will follow my ‘Ba bada ba da da‘ track from my last assignment I had to perform live in Ableton Live.
With the assessment criteria being fairly broad it leaves a lot of options open for what I can do. I was thinking of creating a similar track too ‘Ba bada ba da da’ but singing actually words, not scat noises. I then decided I might try to find a second singer to sing on my track to change the vibe and add some more texture to it. I approached my friend Ben Filer and he said he would be interested! I am thinking of creating beats similar to last time with field recordings (but obviously not pool tables and teeth brushing) and also using scat as a type of beat with lyrics then over the top. With a male and female singer I am also hoping to create some nice harmonies.
Now I need to think of some lyrics and come up with beats and then record it! I will post it on here when it’s done and update you when I get more ideas for it!
Until then, checkout some more of my youtube covers!

My completed Ableton Live Assignment which I performed in class on Monday, I apologise for when it gets stuck in your head….enjoy! 🙂
I uploaded another video from the Velma Grove show!
Bj and I are covering “Girl With One Eye” by Florence and the Machine.
While you’re on my channel feel free to check out some of my other covers! Hope you enjoy!
Last Wednesday night I played at an open mic night in Balnarring. It had such a cool atmosphere.
You had to donate $5 to get in, write your name on a list and then when it was your turn you just went up and played two songs.
I played my original and a cover of ‘I don’t mind’ by Defeater.
I then called Bj up to the stage and we did a cover of Lonely Boy by the black Keys. This was my favourite part of the evening because when we got to the first chorus, someone on drums, bass, guitar and harmonica had jumped on the stage and started jamming with us.
It was all so chilled, I will definitely go back!
It’s on every second Wednesday night at the Town Hall in Balnarring. It seems to be run just by the local muso’s and they had a cute little set up with Fairly lights lighting up the stage.
